12 doctoral candidates from ETH Zurich and the external page PhD program in Care & Rehabilitation Sciences from University of Zurich attended a workshop led by Dr. Alexis Puhan from external page skillbuild focusing on developing a thrilling and convincing storyline for their individual research topics.

The doctoral candidates presented their short pitches at the networking event titled “Engineers, health professionals, and patients do not talk the same language: design-thinking may help!“ and got to extend their network during the aperitif. The networking event also featured two expert talks on the development of a shared language between engineers, health professionals and patients by Prof. Dr. Martina Spiess from the ZHAW and on user-centered design by Prof. Dr. Roger Gassert from ETH Zurich.

12 doctoral candidates from ETH Zurich and the external page PhD program in Care & Rehabilitation Sciences from University of Zurich learned in a daylong workshop with Dr. Alexis Puhan from external page skillbuild how to rethink their communication and optimize their presentation outcome. They focused on the importance of audience specificity and storytelling techniques. At the end of the day, each doctoral candidate held a short pitch at the 5-year anniversary ceremony of the PhD program in Care & Rehabilitation Sciences, explaining their research activity and interest by telling a thrilling and convincing story.

At the succeeding scientific speed dating and networking apéro, new connections were formed between ETH Zurich, University of Zurich and the University of Applied Sciences (ZHAW) - potentially triggering new ideas and collaborations.
