"Mobility & Inclusion" took place from Monday, 12 to Tuesday, 27 February 2024 in the main hall of ETH Zurich.
The displays will then travel around Switzerland for various events and exhibitions. First, they will go to the Technorama, Winterthur. From autumn 2024, they will be on display for several months at the ParaForum visitor centre of the Swiss Paraplegic Foundation in Nottwil, Switzerland, before finally arriving at the Swiss Museum of Transport in Lucerne in 2025 for the permanent "MovAbility" exhibition.
The RESC Public Symposium 2023 titled “Wege zur inklusiven Gesellschaft – Gesundheit, Architektur und Technologie in Interaktion” encouraged the public discussion at the interface of health, environmental design, and technology. We were thrilled to be joined by leading experts from politics, sports, research, and industry.
Top athlete Marcel Hug presented the development of the world’s fastest racing wheelchair, Prof. Anna Puigjaner and Dr. Anna Myjak-Pycia gave insights into the history and current state of barrier-free architecture, Michel Fornasier (aka Bionicman) presented his commitment in promoting diversity and inclusion among children, and Christian Lohr brought in the political view on accessibility and the rights of persons with disabilities.
Comedian Tan Caglar showed how he turns his own daily experiences as a wheelchair user into an entertaining, humorous comedy show.
The event can be viewed here (link ETH Video portal).

Industry meets Science. In keeping with the motto, more than 700 visitors attended the research, case study, and spin-off talks given by 27 speakers. Complemented by a large exhibition, the external page ETH Industry Day offered plenty of opportunities to network and to learn about the latest technologies.
At this year's ETH Industry Day, RESC was on site with the following projects and labs:
In the RESC online lecture series, speakers from the RESC network give insights into key topics along the rehabilitation continuum-of-care, research, and personal experiences.
Roger Gassert, Professor of Rehabilitation Engineering and Head of RELab at ETH Zurich, shares his own personal journey as a patient and identifies major challenges in rehabilitation as well as highlights along his path to recovery.

RehabWeek is a week-long conference that brings together different conferences in the field of rehabilitation technology at the same time and place in order to foster cross-disciplinary communication and the development of relationships between different players. As a partner of RehabWeek, RESC hosted a roundtable discussion on “Assistive Technologies – Innovations in contrast to funding models”.
Panel discussion abstract
There is a strong need for rehabilitation worldwide. Assistive technologies are important instruments for therapy, training and empowerment of people living with disabilities. However, a balance between technological progress and existing funding/reimbursement models for assistive technologies is not guaranteed yet. International panellists with different professional backgrounds highlighted fundamental challenges for sustainable funding/reimbursement mechanisms and discussed opportunities and limitations.
The Assistive Technology Forum, the networking conference for leading players in Assistive Technology, is held at the Swiss Paraplegic Centre in Nottwil (Switzerland) and is aimed at established suppliers in the AT industry. As a partner of ATF, RESC hosted a roundtable discussion on “Assistive Technologies – Innovations in contrast to funding models”.

Industry meets Science
The ETH Industry Day highlights current research and entrepreneurial activities at ETH Zurich and provides a platform for industry to meet researchers and spin-offs. Selected professors and young entrepreneurs present their projects in the fields of:
- Robotics & AI
- Health & Food
- Manufacturing & Materials
- Management & Digitalisation
Meet the speakers, students, researchers and entrepreneurs at more than 80 exhibition booths.
The Competence Centre for Rehabilitation Engineering and Science presents a wearable, automatically calibrated sensory feed back system developed by ETH Zurich's Neuroengineering Lab.
Visit our exhibition booth and learn more about computational moderling of the human nervous system for use in customised neuroprostheses.
Neuroprostheses based on electrical stimulation are becoming a therapeutic reality, dramatically improving the life of disabled people. They are based on neural interfaces that are designed to create an intimate contact with neural cells. Our research is based on creating models of nervous system in order to define the most appropriate design of customised neuroprostheses, their optimal modality of use, understanding the effects that occur during their use, and minimizing animal and human experimentation.
Digital Health will be the major driver of healthcare in the future – healthcare is in transition, with digital products requiring a rethinking of innovation processes and business models. The Swiss Medtech Day 2021 highlights the key role of medical technology in the digitalisation of healthcare.
8 September 2021, Kursaal Conference Centre, Bern
The Swiss Medtech Day Innovation Zone showcases inventions with a high degree of digitisation that reflect the diversity in the medical technology industry. Vistors get to experience, interact, and talk to researchers in person.
The Competence Centre for Rehabilitation Engineering and Science (RESC) will be on location, together with ETH-spin-offs Leitwert and VAY.
