The Swiss Society for Physical Medicine and Rehabilitation (SSPMR) is the association for medical specialists working in Switzerland in the field of physical medicine and rehabilitation.

This medical field is focused on aiding physical and cognitive functions, activity (including behaviour), participation (including quality of life) and the improvement of both personal and environmental factors. It covers prevention, diagnosis, treatment and rehabilitation management for people of every age with disabling health impairments and comorbidities.

The goal of SSPMR is the rehabilitation and reintegration of affected people into everyday life and working life. It also actively supports medical specialists working in the field of physical medicine and rehabilitation in Switzerland, as well as all general practitioners and specialists in related fields who are interested in rehabilitation issues.

Stefan Bützberger, president of SSPMR, on the society's vision and his motivation to partner with RESC: “I hope that the partnership with the RESC competence centre will be fruitful for both sides, particularly in terms of implementing and raising awareness of rehabilitation medicine as a whole among the people affected and the general population, in study programmes/courses, and last but not least at the political level, in order to improve the situation for patients.”

Oliver Stoller, Executive Director RESC: “The partnership with SSPMR is an important step towards a comprehensive network in the vast field of rehabilitation. RESC is looking forward to a close collaboration with physical medicine and rehabilitation medicine specialists to establish meaningful research and education programmes, and to facilitate transfer into professional environments.”

Stefan Bützberger was elected to RESC’s Advisory Board in March 2022.
