Newly elected RESC members bring valuable expertise to ETH Zurich’s Rehabilitation Initiative

ETH Zurich’s Competence Centre for Rehabilitation Engineering and Science (RESC) elected three new members at its General Assembly, held on 21 December 2020. The Steering Committee is pleased to welcome Katrien De Bock, Eling D. de Bruin, and Tobias Kowatsch as new RESC members.

Katrien de Bock

Professor Katrien De Bock is an Associate Professor of Exercise and Health at ETH Zurich’s Department of Health Sciences and Technology. Her expertise is in the fields of muscle biology, angiogenesis, and exercise and regeneration.

Professor Eling D. de Bruin is a full Professor of Physiotherapy at the Karolinska Institute (Stockholm, Sweden) and a PD for Motor Control and Learning at ETH Zurich’s Department of Health Sciences and Technology. His primary fields of expertise are in Human Movement Sciences and Rehabilitation.

Professor Tobias Kowatsch is the Scientific Director of the Centre for Digital Health Interventions (C4DHI) at ETH Zurich and the University of St. Gallen (HSG, Switzerland). He is an Assistant Professor for Digital Health at ETH and HSG, and the Lead Principal Investigator for Mobile Health Interventions at ETH Zurich’s Singapore Centre. He is an expert in Blended Digital Coaching, Just-in-time Adaptive Interventions, and Digital Biomarker Research.

The multidisciplinary expertise of the newly elected members is a valuable asset to ETH Zurich’s Rehabilitation Initiative.

The Rehab Initiative’s mission is to improve the quality of life and participation of people with physical disabilities; thus contributing towards a more inclusive society. With its Competence Centre RESC, which is a nexus of expertise from academia, hospitals, industry, government, healthcare, disability organisations, and other NPOs, it promotes exchange, interdisciplinary research projects, innovative education programmes, and knowledge transfer.
